A DAY OF REMEMBRANCE

Every year on the weekend of All Souls Day, the Sisters gather at the Motherhouse for a special prayer service for our deceased Sisters.
This year it was decided that Saturday, September 14, the feast of the Triumph of the Cross, would be a perfect day to celebrate the lives of our Sisters who have gone before us. This was done as a special tribute to them as part of our 100th anniversary celebration of the founding of our community, for these dearly loved members of the Sisters of the Holy Spirit are such a significant part of our history.
A beautiful prayer service was begun in Mary’s Garden at the Martina Spiritual Renewal Center. Following that, the Sisters processed in silence to the cemetery where candles were lit at the graveside of each Sister. The prayer service continued with the singing of a Beatitude hymn and with prayers of thanksgiving during which the response was: We remember you with love and gratitude.
The closing hymn was the Salve Regina, that beautiful hymn to our Blessed Mother which concludes so many of our prayers and events.
May God grant lasting peace to our dear Sisters, and we pray,
“Lord, help us to serve faithfully and joyously as those who have gone before us.”
