We, the Sisters of the Holy Spirit of Pittsburgh, declare our mission is to be joy-filled disciples of Jesus, prophetically witnessing to the presence and the power of the Holy Spirit, aware of our call to work for the transformation of society into a Gospel community, reconciled with God and with one another.

– Sisters of the Holy Spirit Mission Statement

When a Sister professes her vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, she becomes consecrated to God. She is consecrated for mission, for that particular work within the very large mission of the Church. Her dedication to God, her longing to carry on the work of Jesus, and her care for the welfare of the Church provide the background for her entire life.

Even when a Sister may no longer be able to carry on an active ministry, she is still joined to the mission of Christ through her life of prayer, her concern for God’s people, and her joy-filled witness to the presence and power of the Holy Spirit.
